Adventure Club: one of our pandemic pivots that never went away.

Towards the end of 2020, I was planning the winter 2021 session and thinking about which classes to host. I was seeing the writing on the wall, that our indoor classes were very unlikely be allowed to take place, due to the all the pandemic-related restrictions that were coming and going at the time, so I decided to pivot.

Fit Together has always been a place to inspire parents to get moving so they can live more joyful lives with their babies. We were doing our best to re-create our supportive social aspect online, but it just wasn’t going to be quite enough in my mind. Our mamas deserved a chance to connect with other active parents out of the house.

Meanwhile, I had recently experienced the uplifting effects of getting outside in a winter run club (thank you @lindsayhsomers 😉). Turns out, it’s very exciting and freeing to feel happy outside, even in the cold.

I wanted to give the same gift to our participants. I decided to support our families to get outdoors consistently in winter with a new Parent & Baby Winter Adventure Club.

The concept was (and still is) to motivate and support parents to get outside with their babies to experience the benefits of exercise, fresh air and camaraderie. We meet at a different spot each week and tackle a new route or activity. Unlike our fitness programs, it’s more of a lifestyle program, with less structured exercise and more general activity as well as social connecting.

That first Winter Adventure Club was a big success and so many of those participants told me our club helped them have some happy times that winter, even in the middle of a pandemic! I loved giving this gift of joyful exercise to the parents, so we ended up expanding to Spring, Fall and now even Summer Adventure Club.
