Freezer Meals and Care Packages for New Families

When I had our twin babies, our family was the fortunate recipient of countless thoughtful and beautiful gifts. Before becoming a parent, I had no idea how much support and encouragement we would receive. Flowers, baskets, and adorable items kept arriving, but what truly stood out were the delicious meals our amazing friends and family prepared for us through a meal train.

After experiencing this generosity firsthand, I realized that the gifts we appreciated the most were, without a doubt, the food gifts! 😊

In the spirit of paying it forward, we reached out to our Fit Together instructors and participants to gather their favorite food-related care packages and freezer meals.

Homemade Freezer Meals

Store Bought Freezer Meals

  • M & M Pot Roast For the non-cooking folks, I love the M&M beef pot roast. Throw some carrots and potatoes in the pan with it and it feels like a ‘fancy’ dinner- Alison
  • Food For Thought I ordered frozen meals from Food for Thought. Pretty inexpensive and more "real" than the frozen section of the grocery store.- Kisti
  • Egg bites from any grocery store

Homemade Deliver Fresh

  • Orzo Salad with Chickpeas, Cucumber, Dill and Feta Fresh and hardy, keeps well in fridge- Robin
  • Warm Potato Salad, Earls Copycat Can serve warm or cold. Can Omit Bacon or Sub with Turkey bacon for various food preferences- Alisa
  • Cut up Fruits and Veggies- We got tons of casserole stuff which was great but one friend brought us a huge haul of cut up veggies and dip which was so nice because we hadn’t had a vegetable in a few weeks! – Irene

Store Bought Deliver Fresh

  • Costco and Superstore have some nice ready to eat meals like Greek Gyros or Butter Chicken, as well as ready to go salads
  • De Luca’s has bake at home pizzas with fresh ingredients

Another wonderful suggestion is to for friends and family to use a website like Meal Train to organize food deliveries.
