Ashley Fenske

Instructor

Teaches: Stroller Fitness, Prenatal Fitness, Mom and Baby Fitness, Parent and Baby Bootcamp, Prenatal Aquafit, Mom and Baby Aquafit, Prenatal and Postnatal Personal Training.

When Ashley became pregnant with her first child health and fitness took on a whole new meaning. Eating well and getting exercise was no longer about losing weight or looking a certain way - it was about being healthy for herself and her baby.

She joined our Prenatal Fitness class in 2013 and hasn't looked back since. Ashley was a participant throughout her first two prenatal and postnatal journeys, and became an instructor after deciding not to go back to her "9 to 5" in the spring of 2017. Her growing list of certifications include Sport Conditioning, Pre and Postnatal Fitness, AquaFitness and Group Cycle.

She loves the community of like-minded women and parents and when asked if she likes her job, she will quickly answer "yes, because I never feel like I'm going to work!"  Her main goals are for her participants to feel comfortable in class and to challenge themselves safely.

When she isn't teaching you can find her busy with her three kids. Ashley's favourite family activities include bike rides and hanging out at The Forks.

Alisa

Alisa Hobbs

Instructor

Teaches: Prenatal Yoga, Kids Yoga, Postnatal Yoga, Infant Massage

Alisa attended her first yoga class when she was 20 and fell in love, but it wasn’t until suffering a major back injury years later that she realized yoga was going to become a much bigger part of her life. It was a major component of her rehabilitation for her body and mind, and she knew she wanted to share her practice with others.

Alisa is an E-RYT 500 beginning her teaching journey in 2014 at Source Yoga in Winnipeg with certifications in Hatha, Vinyasa, and Yin, and soon found her passion with Perinatal Yoga, continuing her education with the Empowerment Project, and obtaining her Pre/Postnatal Fitness Specialist Certification.

With a commitment to lifelong learning Alisa has continued her studies to include various teacher trainings including her Pre and Postnatal Yoga Accreditation with the Manitoba Fitness Council, Vinyasa Immersion in Skilful Sequencing at Shala Yoga in Squamish BC, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction with the Mindfulness Centre of Canada, Advanced Teacher Training at Yoga Centre Winnipeg, Infant Massage Instructor Certification, and various pre/postnatal fitness, pelvic health, somatic, and childbirth education courses.   She is also certified Kids Yoga Teacher completing her training with Kidding Around Yoga and Yoga Ed. She loves working with all ages of children from toddlers to teens to help them discover the joy of movement and learn the benefits of mindfulness.

Alisa offers Karma classes throughout the year through her fundraising initiative Healing Minds, Healing Bodies to raise money for the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.

She is passionate about empowering women to prepare their body, mind, and breath for labour and delivery, and helping new moms connect with their core, community, and babies.

Marli

Marli Sakiyama

Instructor

Teaches: Parent & Baby Barre, Babywearing Dance + Strength, Prenatal Barre

Marli graduated with a Masters in City Planning and worked and volunteered for non-profits in community development.  She started taking dance at the age of 3 and has never looked back. She took Fit Together classes in 2013 with her first baby boy.  She continued taking classes with her second pregnancy and after the birth of her daughter.  One of the best memories of Fit Together aqua classes was when the whole class and worked the water weights to the Spice Girls!

Marli has taught dance for over 20 years and fell in love with Barre Fitness at the start of the pandemic. Having completed her Barre Fitness levels and prenatal and postnatal barre she is excited to join team Fit Together to help bring joy in the form of dance, fitness and community building to new moms and moms-to-be! Marli wants her students to always leave class feeling joyful and proud of themselves for taking the time for their wellbeing both mentally and physically. Setting aside intentional time for oneself as a mom or mom to be is important.

Marli loves being as active as possible with her two kids, puppy Suki and partner. You can find them outside hiking or skiing, practicing yoga, or at the rink and dance studio!
