Alisa’s Story: Why Prenatal Yoga + Birth Empowerment? 🌟
As a seasoned yoga instructor, I’ve always believed in the transformative power of movement and mindfulness. I began teaching yoga with Fit Together in 2015 after participating with my first child, and shortly after, I learned I was pregnant again. A friend in the birth community encouraged me to explore the Hypnobirthing Method, which led to a beautiful second labor experience. The difference between my two births was remarkable, inspiring me to empower women in their own journeys.
Over the last decade, I have immersed myself in childbirth education and pelvic health trainings alongside doulas, midwives, labour and delivery nurses and perinatal body workers. I dove deep into studying prenatal yoga and childbirth education. I learned new ways the body can move and how a balanced body can help with better fetal positioning and alleviate discomfort and different methods to learn how to calm the nervous system in preparing for labor and delivery. But most importantly I rediscovered the emotional aspect: how yoga can help women build confidence, trust their instincts, and embrace their birthing journey. I believe every woman deserves to learn to tools necessary to feel positive and excited about their birth.
Initially, I created a workshop, but I had so much to share that I designed the Prenatal Yoga + Empowering Birth Workshop Series. This program blends workshop-style learning and movement-based classes, including mobility and core strengthening techniques, and focuses on enhancing comfort and easing postpartum recovery. Participants will also enjoy restorative practices like Yoga Nidra and meditation to reset their nervous systems and prepare for mindful deliveries.
Every time I see a new mother walk into my class, I’m reminded of the incredible strength within us. Together, we breathe, move, and embrace the beautiful transition into motherhood. It’s a privilege to guide our participants along this journey. 💖
If you’re looking for your village as you navigate motherhood, join us for our upcoming program!
